CHURCH EXPERIENCE
As an ordained PC(USA) minister, I have been working with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and local churches in transition as an interim. My current role is serving as the Interim Director or Field Education at the seminary. I have overseen worship services and programs--from teaching congregations how to get online, to planning, preaching and picking hymns to coordinating volunteers. I've provided pastoral care, planned VBS, taught Sunday school for 3-year-olds and 93-year olds. I've conducted weddings and funerals, talked theology with young adults and created websites. I'm currently sharing the love of Jesus with my neighbors at Union Presbyterian Church in Murrysville, PA as a transitional pastor. I've also been a pastor at Reunion Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, PA.and McKeesport Presbyterian Church in McKeesport, PA. FREELANCE EXPERIENCE I've been working as a freelance content producer since 2000. This includes writing a column focusing on small churches for Presbyterians Today magazine (PT) in 2017/2018. I was also the interim editor for PT in 2016-2017. Other clients have included the Presbyterian News Service, The Thoughtful Christian, Redstone Presbytery, The Ellis School, Apple Hill Playhouse, and other media outlets. As a freelancer I've done the following:
MEDIA EXPERIENCE The COVID pandemic meant dusting off my old media skills to record and broadcast worship services with an FM transmitter as well as recording and editing video for YouTube and dabbling in live broadcasts. Having spent time as a TV intern and five years working in Pittsburgh radio as a talk show producer, news writer and reporter for stations like KDKA, WSHH and WJPA prepared me for new ways of worshiping electronically. TEACHING EXPERIENCE I devoted several years to working with high school youth, both as a public school teacher and a church volunteer. In this capacity, I taught English, Video Production and directed several theatrical presentations. |
